The Short-term Impact of COVID-19 on Chinese Transportation Stock Market

Abstract

COVID-19 has had a great impact on every industry worldwide, it showed through the stock market by the stock price and return. Many researchers have done research on the impact of COVID-19 on some industries that are obviously be affected significantly, such as tourism, in detail. The transportation industry is also a traditional industry that will be significantly impacted by the COVID-19 mainly because of the traffic limitation and the reduced traffic with confidence lost due to the fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus, especially in China. Therefore, this paper analyzes the short-term change in this specific market to study the short-term impact of COVID-19 on the Chinese transportation stock market based on the processing by Excel, RStudio and SPSS, using the event study method.
