Information-seeking and sharing behaviors of professionals

Abstract

The presentation will report Dr. Ruan's dissertation studies on information seeking and sharing behavior of professionals, especially those of firefighters and first responders. It will review the existing conceptual frames of information behavior and focus on the new model Dr. Ruan developed. The presentation will also review the professional knowledge structures that have influences on information seeking and sharing behavior. The presentation will finally discuss how the study findings have helped enhance library collections and information services to support the dynamic needs of users.
